Indy City Commission Considering Incentive Agreement with Labette Health

The Independence City Commission will consider finalizing an incentive agreement between the city and Labette Health for the expansion of the Independence Healthcare Center.

The agreement has been drafted on recommendation of the Economic Development Advisory Board at a rate of $100,000 per year for ten years. If approved, payments will begin in March 2023, continuing through 2033. The incentive will be paid through the city's Economic Development Fund.

Labette Health will be required to provide documentation to the city showing it has hired and maintained a number of new employees who are full-time residents of Independence. Two of those employees must be family practice physicians, hired by September 2024.

The commission will consider this agreement at its biweekly meeting Thursday, starting at 5:30 pm.
