There is an extreme fire danger warning in effect today in southeast Kansas.

Warmer temperatures along with low humidity in the air and winds blowing 20-30 mph and 40 mph gusts make for prime conditions for fires to spread quickly.

The National Weather Service is highly discouraging any outdoor burning today. Most areas in the state are under an extreme fire danger warning except for parts of the south-central and southwestern portions of the state which are under a very high fire danger warning.
