An estimated 8% of Montgomery County residents have been fully vaccinated. That was the unofficial total given by Montgomery County Director of Emergency Management Rick Whitson at the First Friday meeting in Independence this morning.

 

However, getting the total has been difficult and officials in the county and the state are still trying to find out the exact number.

 

The way the county was able to get the estimated 8% is purely based on the amount of the vaccine that the county has received.

 

Whitson said that the numbers could be a little skewed due to the fact that some people are still hesitant to receive the vaccine.

 

According to Whitson, the health department is vaccinating approximately 100 people per day and Independence was able to vaccinate 500 people on Wednesday.
