Spring calving season is underway and one of the biggest worries of cow-calf producers are coyotes. Hunting or trapping coyotes are usually the first control measures producers go to, but Kansas State University Wildlife Specialist Drew Ricketts says the challenge with coyote control rests with the social behavior of this predator.

Ricketts says it is the wide-roaming coyotes that are more threatening.  Ricketts says this is why comprehensive coyote control is so difficult to achieve and why preventative management against predation is so important.
