The Independence City Commission will consider declaring a financial emergency in the wake of last week's severe weather.
Due to sub-zero temperatures and even lower wind chills, the possibility for higher-than-normal utility bills is anticipated. The passage of a resolution declaring an emergency becomes important if aid becomes available, as it would allow the city to go after that aid. Montgomery County as a whole has already passed a similar resolution, doing so at its meeting on Monday.
The commission will meet and discuss the matter at its regular scheduled time, this Thursday at 5:30 pm. You can view the full meeting agenda here.
