The latest COVID-19 statistics were given at Independence's pandemic team meeting, and the results were mostly good news.

There have been just 82 new cases were reported since last Wednesday in Montgomery County. Additionally, there have been two more deaths since last Wednesday for a total of 59.

Statewide, there was an increase of 4,490 in the past week to bring the state total to 287,450 cases. There have also been 36 new hospitalizations and 42 deaths since Monday. There have also been two cases of the new strain of coronavirus that originated out of the United Kingdom that has been deemed more contagious.
