SPP States Electricity Situation Might Continue Through Thursday

If you have experienced a blackout over the last 24 hours, chances are it was a decision by Southwest Power Pool. They are in charge of where the electricity goes in 17 total states in the central plains and western parts of the country.

Chief Operating Officer Lanny Nickel said that they are in control and have a plan and strategy in place for which areas will lose power momentarily.

SPP expects this morning could be the highest demand for electricity so far. Nickel said it's likely that things won't be getting better any time soon.

SPP continues to encourage the minimal use of gas and electricity in homes and businesses to prevent widespread power outages.
