The Independence Assistant City Manager David Cowan and Labette Health Independence ER Director Becky Mitchell shared information on COVID-19 vaccinations at their pandemic team meeting.

 

Citizens who wish to receive the COVID vaccine should contact any and all providers to get signed up on waiting lists, including the Montgomery County Health Department. The Health Department’s phone number is (620) 251-4210.

 

They're asking that citizens remain patient when waiting for their vaccine as supplies are limited and there are a lot of people trying to receive their shots.

 

Currently, the County is operating within Phase Two, for which the priority group includes individuals over age 65, essential workers, municipal workers and school staff.

 

Vaccine availability is expected to expand with the addition of retail pharmacy distribution, which should happen soon. Walmart has announced that its store pharmacies in Coffeyville and Parsons will be offering vaccinations when supplies become available.
