Warning Signs of Hypotermia

For those who need to be outside for any reason in these harsh winter conditions, it's important to recognize the signs of frostbite and hypothermia. The Kansas Division of Emergency Management gave tips on what to watch for so you can stay safe.

In order to prevent frostbite, be sure to wear gloves and have a layer of clothing covering your ears, also wear multiple socks on each foot.

Signs of hypothermia include confusion, shivering, difficulty speaking, drowsiness and stiff muscles. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms while you are outside, be sure to move to a warmer location and seek medical attention immediately.
