Fab Lab ICC Announces New Program

 

Fab Lab ICC was recently awarded a $50,000 grant to address COVID relief in the community. The Fab Food Lab concept has been developed, which is designed to address food insecurity in the region by offering citizens a variety of educational opportunities related to food and nutrition.

 

Offerings planned as part of the grant program include cooking classes, as well as education on food growing and preservation. Utilizing the commercial kitchen and large meeting space available at the ICC West facility, organizers are also developing opportunities such as an off-season farmers market, food-related trade show, a community food prep space and incubator space for food-based entrepreneurs. Former K-State Research and Extension Agent Barbara Ames has been chosen as the Project Lead for the Fab Food Lab.
