COVID-19 Cases Continue to Decrease in Montgomery County

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to decrease in Montgomery County.

There were only 70 new cases reported in the county for the last seven days ending on Tuesday. In total, there have been 3,043 cases of the virus as well as 46 deaths.

The state of Kansas has reported 2,247 new COVID-19 cases, 86 new deaths, and 89 new hospitalizations since Monday.

As the vaccine rollout continues in the state of Kansas, local health officials are asking citizens to not let up on their safety precautions. At the most recent Independence pandemic team meeting, Assistant City Manager David Cowan said that citizens who wish to receive the vaccine should contact any and all providers to get signed up on waiting lists – including the Montgomery County Health Department, physician offices, and area pharmacies.
