Independence Fire-EMS responded to a structure fire at 418 S. Wald Street last night.

The fire department identified a large fire coming from the rear side of the house. Assistance came from Cherryvale Fire-EMS and Independence Rural to help extinguish the flames.

It took the fire departments an hour and a half from the time of arrival to the time when they were cleared. No one was injured, but there was extensive damage to the structure. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
