Neodesha Man Arrested After Standoff

 

A 35-year old Neodesha man has been arrested after a nearly 24-hour hostage situation.

 

Parsons PD received and attempted to locate a man and his children from Wilson County. The man was identified as Brad Berkstresser who was last seen on January 22nd and the family was worried about him and the two children, ages 10 and 13.

 

A family member came to Parsons to look for Berkstresser and had found the 10-year-old who was able to lead the family member to where Berkstresser was located. Officers received information that Berkstresser was possibly armed and had his other child in the house with him.

 

Parsons Police Officers negotiated with Berkstresser for nearly 23 hours and then made a forced entry into the building. The entry team was able to subdue Berkstresser and safely remove the 13-year-old.

 

Berkstresser was arrested for Aggravated Child Endangerment, Criminal Restraint, Criminal Trespassing, and Contributing to a Child's Misconduct. Bail was set at $25,000.
