The Independence Police Department arrested a man and a woman early Tuesday morning.

IPD detected a suspicious vehicle parked in the alleyway around 4 a.m. near the block of 900 North Pennsylvania Avenue. After the officers investigated the scene, 47-year-old Richard Asher and 39-year-old Amanda Lee were arrested for possession of an opiate narcotic or certain stimulant, possession of counterfeit currency, distribution of marijuana and distribution of a depressant.

They were arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
