GPD Respond to Possible Prank Call

At approximately 9:20pm Galena Police Department, Cherokee County Deputies, and Galena EMS personnel were dispatched to an address at 23rd and Joplin in Galena.

A male subject called 911 stating his home was being burglarized by two subjects, and his wife had been shot in the stomach. The male quickly disconnected the line with Cherokee County Dispatch without giving any further information. When officers arrived on scene they found the homeowner to be safe and no burglary in progress. Officers located a cellphone in the yard that was still pulled up to 911. With the assistance of Cherokee County Deputies, officers canvased the area and did not locate any sign of a disturbance. Officers spoke to multiple residents in the area.

At this time GPD believes this to have been a prank call. They encourage anyone who was in the area that saw anything or know anything about this incident to notify them so they can look into it. At this time they do not believe there is any threat to the public and that this was an isolated incident.
