The Chautauqua County Health Department has received its first allocation of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

As of right now, the county is in Phase 1 of its vaccine rollout, meaning that the delivered doses will be administered to front line health care workers including hospital staff, EMS, home health staff and health department staff. The Moderna vaccine consists of two doses, with the second being administered 28 days after the first.  Previously, the county was unable to receive the first round of vaccines from Pfizer, which was required to be stored at a temperature ranging from -60 to -80 degrees Celsius.

A timeline of phases for receiving more vaccines has not been given to Chautauqua County by the KDHE, but further updates will be given to the general public as the health department receives them.
