A cow was on the loose Tuesday afternoon in the area of the Coffeyville Tree Dump on North Sycamore.

A call was responded to around 2:30 p.m. by Coffeyville Animal Control. The cow was eating on a grassy knoll when a gunshot was fired, startling the animal. The cow took off ended up resting in a bushy area not too far from the tree dump.

Animal control ended up finding the owner, contacted them and sent them to the area of the lost cow. Animal Control Officer Paul Stinson said that he isn't sure if the animal was found and recovered, but there haven't been any more reports of the cow since then.
