Neodesha Fire Chief Duane Banzet told the city of Neodesha and the Neodesha Fire Department Monday that he intends to retire.

Banzet began firefighting in Chetopa as a volunteer in 1987. He then started firefighting in Neodesha in 1992 and was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in October of 1994. Banzet then was promoted to fire chief on May 23rd, 2007.

Banzet plans to serve his final day at the fire department on February 12th, 2021.
