The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism announced on Thursday that it will be dropping prices on fishing licenses starting January 1^st.

The price for daily fishing licenses for adult Kansas residents will drop from $8.50 to $6 and for non-residents and it will drop from $14.50 to $10. Kansas youth will also be allowed to purchase a trout permit for $7 allowing those aged 15 and younger to catch and keep up to 5 trout each day. Previous youth were allowed to trout fish for free but only allowed to keep 2 fish per day.

The commission hopes the lower prices will bring in more novice and casual anglers.
