Through seven rounds at the National Finals Rodeo, a couple of Southeast Kansas natives find themselves near the top of the World Team Roping Heelers standings.
Jake Long, of Coffeyville, currently sits in 4th in the world with over $130,000 in earnings. Buddy Hawkins, of Columbus, is currently 6th with over $112,000 in earnings. With three rounds left, Long is less than $9,000 off of first place, which is Travis Graves from Jay, Oklahoma. The NFR will wrap up on Saturday.
