ICC Fab Lab Offering Two Courses Starting Next Month

The Independence Community College Fab Lab will be offering two courses starting next month.

Individuals interested in creating their own ready-to-play guitar might want to consider enrolling in the next "Guitar Fabrication" class. Taught by Fab Lab manager Tim Haynes and local guitar expert Steve Reid, the class will run from January 27 through May 12. The class will meet each Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Course work would include basic woodworking and wood finishing technique, while also learning how electric guitars work and how guitar components are made. The course is open to all ages, with no experience building or playing necessary to take the course.

In addition, those considering starting their own businesses, or looking for new approaches to problem-solving, are invited to enroll in the next "Entrepreneurial Mindset" class. Fab Lab Director Jim Correll will lead the class each Thursday from January 28 to May 13, meeting from 6 to 8 pm.

Course homework would include viewing one hour of video content weekly among other things. Class sessions will include discussion of the video content and visits from area entrepreneurs. Like the guitar course, this class is also open to all ages. Participants may take this course virtually through Zoom if desired.

More information, including cost, schedule, and requirements, can be seen by visiting the Fab Lab website here.
