Kansas Certifies 2020 Election Results

Kansas has officially certified its 2020 general election results.

Election officials, including Governor Laura Kelly and Secretary of State Scott Schwab, met Monday and certified the results. The state will give its six electoral votes to President Donald Trump. No recounts will be needed for any race handled by the state this year.

Although the race for the nation's highest office was not particularly close, with President Trump receiving 56 percent of the vote, officials were pleased with the way Kansas handled this year's election. Several election records were broken in Kansas this cycle, including most votes at 1.3 million, most early votes at 830,000, and the highest ratio of early voters at 60 percent. All 105 Kansas counties passed the post-election audit.

State electors will make their votes on December 14th. Despite Kansas giving its electoral votes to President Trump, challenger Joe Biden has been named the presumptive winner of the election and will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States next month.
