Like so many events since the pandemic began, Thanksgiving might be a little different this year. With some people taking the recommendation to limit in-person gatherings, Thanksgiving Day meals could feature less food or more leftovers. K-State Research and Extension Nutrition Specialist Sandy Procter says finding a smaller turkey might be difficult.

Proctor says if you can’t find a small turkey the leftovers can be used in a variety of ways following Thanksgiving. Plus, she thinks a bigger bird is going to be a bargain this year.  Proctor says if you are buying fewer ingredients and food this year you could use that many you saved to purchase items to donate to a food pantry.
