Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab is warning new business entities of a misleading mailing being sent from the "KS Certificate Service." The mailing tells the business that they may possibly need a Certificate of Good Standing.

Schwab said the Secretary of State's office will never use a third party to contact businesses and will always get in touch directly if needed. He also confirmed that similar mailings have been sent out in other states. Businesses are encouraged to reach out to the Secretary of State's office if they receive any suspicious letters or solicitations that appear to be sent on the behalf of Schwab's office.
