Due to staffing issues related to COVID-19, Memorial Hall and the Independence Civic Center will be closed to the public for the next few weeks, with the exception of a handful of events on the facility’s schedule.

Independence Assistant City Manager and Emergency Manager David Cowan said the building will undergo a thorough cleaning and sanitation process, and temporary staffing will be arranged for the private events and public meetings upcoming on the schedule, including the Independence City Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 19th.
