Two men are facing a laundry list of charges for committing a home invasion in Altamont.

 

Over the weekend, a 911 caller reported that two men had entered a home in Altamont and assaulted two adults living there with brass knuckles and a gun. Labette County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Charlie Brown was in Altamont when the call came in and he responded.

 

Brown saw two people leaving the residence and after a short chase, 29-year-old Richard Sanchez of Columbus was captured. During the search for the second man, a handgun and brass knuckles where were discovered. A short time later, 23-year-old Cody Scott was located walking northbound on U.S. Highway 59.

 

Both men face charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal threat, and three counts of aggravated endangering a child. Sanchez also faces an additional count of criminal use of weapons for having metal knuckles.

 

Both men were taken to the Labette County Jail.
