Neodesha's Chief of Police Sam Tomlinson confirmed a man who was spotted talking to a second-grade student at Heller Elementary School was a grandfather who thought he was talking to his grandson.

The child did not know the man so the child reported it to the teacher's supervising their recess. Shortly after, they got in contact with the Neodesha Police Department.

The man was driving a white pickup truck and told the student that he would pick the child up from school. The student had his mask on and the man couldn't tell that he was talking to the wrong student.

If there are to be any changes to your pickup plans, please notify the school office first so mixups like this don't happen in the future.
