A suspicious man was spotted at Heller Elementary School in Neodesha. He told two second-grade students that he would pick them up from school. The children did not know the man. He was driving a dusty, white pickup truck and had a big, white "Santa-like" beard.

The children alerted the teachers supervising the noon recess who notified the police. Neodesha Police Department is investigating the matter, and according to USD 461, the teachers will continue to be on alert for any suspicious characters.

Superintendent Juanita Erickson stated that if pickup plans need to be changed to please notify the school office.
