New Positive Cases, Isolation and Quarantine Numbers Go Up

Pittsburg State University announced more positive coronavirus cases in the latest week of testing.

In the seven days leading up to Wednesday, the Bryant Student Health Center tested 62 symptomatic students with 23 testing positive. Isolation and quarantine numbers have grown to 40 in isolation and approximately 90 in quarantine due to close contact with an infected person.

Among faculty and staff, three new cases were reported in the past week with three faculty/staff members in isolation. Nine are in quarantine due to close contact with an infected person. Since reporting began in March, 22 faculty and staff have tested positive, and 54 have had to quarantine due to close contacts.

The men's basketball team was also administered tests as part of their NCAA-mandated testing protocol. A total of 22 athletes were tested with no positives.
