Gas Demand Declines, National Average Remains Low

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has held steady at $2.15, which is one cent less than a week ago, two cents less than a month ago, and 48 cents cheaper than last year.

In the new weekly report from the Energy Information Administration, gas demand decreased from 8.58 million barrels per day to 8.29 million BPD. That low demand last week has helped pump prices decrease. As demand remains low, American drivers should expect pump prices to continue to decline this fall.

According to AAA, Kansas prices currently sit at $1.92, which is down 2 cents than at the same time last week. Montgomery County sits three cents higher than the state average at $1.95 a gallon while Labette County is currently at $1.94 a gallon. Chautauqua County clocked in at $1.98 a gallon.

Across the border in Oklahoma, the state average is $1.84 which is 3 cents cheaper than a week ago. Washington County is at $1.78 a gallon while Nowata County came in at $1.73 a gallon.
