A man was arrested over the weekend after shooting a gun at a business.

Chanute PD was dispatched to the area of the 3800 block of South Santa Fe for a report of shots fired. During the investigation, officers were told that a man was showing people inside the business a gun that he had inside his front waistband. They asked the man to leave the business and a couple of people followed him outside the door, locking the door behind him.

Just a few seconds later, a bullet went through the door, missing the people inside. The bullet went through the back wall and ricocheted off the sidewalk. The people inside the business knew the man and told officers who he was and where he had been staying. Officers located 28-year-old Jared Blake Holcomb just a short distance away. The gun had been given to another person, who gave it to the officers when they arrived.

Holcomb was arrested for the charges of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm.
