Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg is suspending elective procedures.

Officials say that’s because of a spike in Covid-19 patients in the hospital. They plan to shift staff and resources to the hospital’s Covid wing. Over the past two weeks, they’ve seen a significant increase in Covid-19 cases, with more older people contracting the virus.

Patients scheduled for non-emergent procedures will be notified of cancellations or rescheduling needs. Patients should consult with their physician if they have additional questions.
