At $2.18, the national gas price average is at the cheapest start to October since 2016. That average is the same as a week ago, four cents cheaper than the start of this past September and nearly 50 cents cheaper than last year.
According to AAA, Kansas prices currently sit at $1.95, which is one penny less than at the same time last week. Montgomery County sits at $1.96 a gallon while Labette County currently at $1.94 a gallon. Chautauqua County is higher by four cents at $1.99 a gallon.
Across the border in Oklahoma, the state average is $1.89 which holds level than a week ago. Washington and Nowata counties came in at $1.78 a gallon.
