Busy Slate at Montgomery County Commission Meeting

A proposal by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1186 in Independence was made asking the county commissioners to create two Veteran Service Representative jobs.  No decision was made, but the commission declared they would review the proposal during the upcoming weeks.

Three representatives from the Kansas Department of Transportation stopped by the meeting to give a few brief updates on construction projects in southeast Kansas. They noted that all projects are going according to plan thanks to the weather permitting no delays.

Additionally, a budget increase was passed for the correctional facility by a little over $2,800 a month, and a warranty was extended for a county-owned John Deere 310SL Backhoe.
