West Elk Student Tests Positive for COVID-19

 

The Elk County Health Department has notified the West Elk school district that a high school student has tested positive for COVID-19. The test was taken Thursday afternoon. The student has been quarantined and will return to school upon the approval of Elk County Health.

 

County and state contract tracing protcols have been followed, with 33 high school students and two staff members needing to quarantine at this time. Students that have been identified as close contacts have been notified.

 

Sedan School District Superintendent Kay Hill announced through Facebook that no students would need to quarantine at this time, despite West Elk facing Sedan in a volleyball match the day prior. Hill urged everyone to always seek credible information in situations like these.
