One man is dead and two more were injured in a Monday morning wreck in Montgomery County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Ford F150 driven by 51-year-old Paul Thomas of Independence was headed northbound on Independence Avenue just north of Dearing when he crossed the center line and hit a southbound 1997 Ford Pickup driven by 56-year-old Monty Phillips of Fredonia. Phillips was killed in the accident while his passenger, 55-year-old Amos Cole Jr., also of Fredonia was seriously injured.

Both Cole and Thomas were transported to CRMC.
