A Chanute man was arrested on outstanding warrants and possession of drugs.

Earlier this week, Chanute police responded to the area of the 700 block of South Santa Fe for a report of an individual trying to gain entry into a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult female and male at the vehicle. During the investigation, officers learned that the male was trying to gain entry into the vehicle for the vehicle owner, but had an active arrest warrant out of Neosho and Woodson counties.

26-year-old Dustin Earl Schaffer was arrested for the outstanding warrants along with the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Neosho County Jail without incident.
