A fire at a home in Independence has been extinguished.

The fire started around 7:30 a.m. this morning at 606 S. 1st Street, and responders from Independence Fire-EMS first shift arrived on the scene.

Upon arrival, the attic of the home was on fire, but it was extinguished within just fifteen minutes.

The house was unoccupied and no one was injured. Independence Fire-EMS and IPD are investigating the cause of the fire.
