Second Round of SPARK Grants Approved in Chautauqua County

The Chautauqua County commission has approved a second round of SPARK grants funding to begin today.

At the commission's regular meeting on Monday, County Counselor Zoe Newton told commissioners that there had been a "very good" response to the workshop held the previous week. Newton reported that the SPARK board had received applications at least one school, business and city. Commissioner Parker Massey made a motion to open up a second round of applications as suggested by Newton. That motion was unanimously passed.

The second round of SPARK grant applications opened up today, but will close once again on October 2nd. In other business, Kansas Department of Transportation representative Wayne Gudmonson discussed several projects with the commission and answered questions as part of his listening tour.
