The Independence City Commissioners have announced that Kelly Passauer has been appointed to the position of City Manager, effective immediately.

Passauer has served as the Acting City Manager since July 2019, and also served in the role in 2010 and 2017. She has been employed by the city for over 30 years and has worked in the City Manager's office for over 26 years. Passauer is also a Montgomery County native, having been born in Independence and raised in Cherryvale. 

The commission wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday that the interview process had become more detailed than originally planned, but felt that the process was successful in achieving its goal.
