A suspect is in custody after the Coffeyville Police Department searched for a potentially armed suspect yesterday.

The search caused a soft lockdown at the Coffeyville Public Schools, but no one was harmed during the incident. The suspect was running on foot from the police.

The precautions taken by the schools were part of the security plans enforced by USD 445 and they state that in a potentially dangerous situation they will lock down all necessary buildings to keep students safe.

The suspect's name has not been released.
