Labette County Crash Results in Multiple Injuries

 

Multiple people were rushed to the hospital after a two-car crash in Labette County over the weekend.

 

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by 20-year-old Rolando Hernandez-DeLeon of Oswego was southbound on U.S. 59 between Oswego and Chetopa. Hernandez-DeLeon saw an animal in the roadway and swerved to miss it and struck a 2011 Hyundai Sonata that was headed northbound driven by 17-year-old Dakota Smith of Altamont.

 

Both Hernandez-DeLeon and Smith sustained minor injuries and were taken to Labette Health and Mercy Hospital in Joplin respectively. Hernandez-DeLeon's passenger 18-year-old Jaymee Best of Oswego was also taken to Mercy Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Smith's three passengers, all 16 and under, were also transported to Mercy Hospital with various injuries.
