The proposed 2021 budget for Montgomery County is $3 million more than this year's current year estimate.
The budget for 2020 is estimated at nearly $27.5 million, and next year is expected to be $30.6 million. The biggest jump in the budget is in the Special Bridge Fund, where this year's expenditure is just under $600 thousand, and next year is over $2.1 million.
At the Montgomery County Commission meeting, local citizen Max Williams suggested that the budget should be going down, not up. Williams also said that due to the population of the county going down, the budget should be going down as well.
The Montgomery County Commission meetings are at 9:00 a.m. every Monday at the Independence Judicial Center.
