Summer Season Low For Gas In Over a Decade

Motorists saw plenty of savings at the pump from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The national gas price average during the unofficial start and stop to summer was $2.15 which is the cheapest since 2004. Demand was down this summer, which ultimately meant increased supply and cheap gas prices. That trend continues. At $2.20, today’s average is two cents less than last week, three cents more than last month, and 35 cents cheaper than a year ago.

According to AAA, Kansas prices currently sit at $1.99, which is one penny less than at the same time last week. Montgomery and Labette counties are currently at $1.96 a gallon, while Chautauqua County is a nickel higher at $2.01 a gallon.

Across the border in Oklahoma, the state average is $1.91. Washington County came in at $1.88 a gallon while Nowata County clocked in at $1.84 a gallon.
