Independence City Commission to Consider Extending 1916 City Hall Project

The Independence City Commission will consider extending the contract schedule for the 1916 City Hall Project at its regular meeting this Thursday.

Change Order 11 would extend the contract schedule with general contractor Hofer and Hofer and Associates by 126 days, pushing the expected completion date back to January 31, 2021. At the August 27th meeting, a representative of design firm TreanorHL informed the three commissioners that the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted several supply chains, primarily window manufacturing. The commission expressed their frustrations with the delays at that meeting. The first phase of the City Hall project was supposed to be completed later this month.

In addition, the commission will consider awarding a bid for the purchase of a new ambulance with SPARK funding. Thursday's meeting will begin at 5:30 pm in the Civic Center of Memorial Hall. The full agenda can be seen here.
