For motorists who those travel on K-58, they can expect some slowdowns as the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to start a resurfacing project next week beginning on Monday.
The 15-mile project area begins at the west city limits of Leroy, continues east, and ends at U.S. 169. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct one-lane traffic through the work zone during daylight hours. The resurfacing work should be finished in one month, weather permitting.
Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., of Topeka, is the contractor on the project, which have a construction cost of $1.1 million.
