An Independence man leads the Independence Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on a pursuit that ends in a crash. Earlier this week a vehicle fled from IDP officers tossing drug evidence from the vehicle and proceeding off-road, striking a tree and eventually losing control of the vehicle. The driver was injured while exiting his vehicle and fled on foot eventually fighting a deputy and officer before being taken into custody.

The driver was transported by ambulance and received treatment at Labette Health. While at the emergency room the suspect punched an officer in the face. The driver was identified as 36 year old Travis Jones who was arrested and charged with several felonies including possession of a stimulant, possession of a hallucinogen, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and alluding, destruction of evidence, and several traffic charges as well as battery of a law enforcement officer.
