Independence City Commission Agenda for 8-27

The Independence City Commission will consider more change orders to the ongoing 1916 City Hall Project when it meets for its regular session this Thursday.

The commission will take a look at Change Orders 8, 9 and 10, which are estimated at a cost of about $30,100. The project is being funded by the Special Use Sales Tax for Buildings and Facilities.

Also on the agenda is the consideration of two special meetings. One of those meetings will be used for the purpose of discussing the Independence Police Department's response to the Chamber of Commerce's Diversity Task Force. Independence Police Chief Jerry Harrison hopes to foster transparency and have an open discussion through the meeting. The meeting, if set, will be able to be seen through several outlets, including Facebook Live and cable access.

The other meeting would be used to discuss security training and to develop a security response plan for city commission meetings. Thursday's meeting will begin at 5:30 PM. You can take a look at the full agenda here.
