Caney Police and Animal Control recently responded to a report of a dog bite victim.

CPD and Animal Control were dispatched to the 600 block of East 5th Street. The female victim reported being attacked by her neighbor's dog, while she was in her yard. The victim sought medical attention for the dog bite on her own.

Officers made contact with the owner of the dog and took the dog into custody for a mandatory quarantine. The dog's owner was issued a citation for a vicious dog and is scheduled to appear in city court.

The Caney Police Department urges everyone to make sure their animals are current on their vaccinations and have current city dog tags.
