Cherokee Nation to Offer COVID-19 Assistance to Area Tribal Members

The Cherokee Nation is reaching out to qualifying tribal members in the area to provide financial assistance due to COVID-19.  The tribal nation will be holding a sign-up event this Friday from 1 pm until 3 pm in South Coffeyville at the Native American Fellowship Community Center on Oklahoma Street.

Qualifying low-income tribal members age 62 and over can receive $1,200 in utility bill assistance.  The Cherokee Nation is also offering a $400 direct economic assistance stipend to any Cherokee elder 62 or older, regardless of income level.  Eligible tribal members can also sign up online and skip the drive-through event.  Elders who need assistance in filling out the on-line application can attend Friday.

Applications must be received by 11:59 pm on August 28th.
